From February 2023, I joined the University of Newcastle, Australia as a Lecturer in Data Science and Statistics. Before that, I was an Associate Professor with the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Southeast University, China. I have also worked as a research fellow at the University of South Australia from 2018-2020.
I received my Ph.D. degree from the School of Information Technology and Mathematical Science, University of South Australia, in 2018 and the M.Sc. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Nanjing University, in 2014. My undergraduate study was also completed at Nanjing University, but in the School of Mathematics.
Currently, my main research interests are causal inference and machine learning, including topics on causal effect estimation, weakly-supervised learning, and causal representation learning.

Learning causal representation from multi-instance bags significantly improves performances of both MIL and OOD tasks.
Inferencing causality using data from Australia’s largest cultural heritage crowdsourcing platform reveals that the spontaneous trend of volunteer engagements does not always align with the platform’s interest.
